About this Position

The Sustainability Excellence Manager LATAM will play a pivotal role in driving sustainability transformation across manufacturing sites in the Latin America region. The position involves translating global sustainability targets into actionable regional and site-level initiatives, leveraging data for impactful reporting, and presenting progress to senior leadership and external stakeholders. This role is also responsible for coordinating project execution, securing funding, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will excel in fostering cross-functional collaboration, developing competencies, and building a strong sustainability network to align site-level performance with regional and global Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Strategic Initiatives (KSIs). 

What you´ll do

1- Sustainability Program Development & Execution:
Convert global sustainability targets into tailored regional programs and actionable site-specific KPIs.
Lead the development and execution of sustainability scorecards, project roadmaps, and investment plans to meet environmental and energy efficiency goals.
Ensure alignment between site, regional, and global strategies for maximum impact and progress tracking

2- Competency Development & Communication:
Drive sustainability competency development at regional and site levels, including training and upskilling.
Maintain alignment with North America communications and regional points of contact.

3- Reporting & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all regional environmental permits, regulations, and remediation requirements.
Oversee proper protocols for site decommissioning, divestment, due diligence, and M&A integration.
Support the implementation of environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISCC) and other global standards.

4- Project Support:
Act as the key sustainability counterpart for significant investment projects, ensuring alignment with regional and global objectives.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to identify, prioritize, and fund impactful sustainability initiatives.
Monitor project milestones, ensuring timely execution and delivery of water, energy, and waste reduction targets.
Partner with finance and site managers to unlock funding opportunities and optimize ROI.

5- Network Building & Knowledge Sharing:
Develop and deliver training programs to upskill site teams in sustainability best practices, including energy efficiency, waste management, and environmental compliance.
Promote best practice sharing, recognition, and celebration of achievements across the region.
Facilitate alignment with North America teams and coordinate cross-SBU collaboration to advance sustainability initiatives.
Prepare compelling presentations to communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities to senior leadership, regional management, and external stakeholders.
Leverage data insights to create strategies for continuous improvement and demonstrate ROI on sustainability investments. 

What makes you a good fit

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sustainability, environmental management, or a related field, preferably in manufacturing or chemical industries.
  • Strong knowledge of sustainability frameworks, energy efficiency, environmental compliance, and project management.
  • Experience with sustainability reporting systems (e.g., Sphera or equivalent) and environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISCC).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to build and manage cross-functional networks.
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese; Spanish is a strong advantage.
  • Availability to travel regionally to support sites.

Preferred Skills:

  • Expertise in KPI development and tracking for sustainability programs.
  • Experience with sustainability risk and opportunity management.
  • Knowledge of regional environmental regulations and permits in S.A.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Successful implementation of site-level KPIs aligned with regional and global sustainability goals.
  • Timely and accurate sustainability reporting in Sphera.
  • Achievement of regional sustainability Action Plans
  • Improved competencies and engagement in sustainability programs across S.A. sites.
